Working Class Party, Michigan, nominated 20 candidates for the 2026 election

            The June 2026 Convention of the Working Class Party (Michigan) nominated 20 candidates for the November elections: eight for U.S. Congress, seven for Michigan state Senate, and two for the state House. In addition, three candidates were nominated for statewide education boards – allowing everyone in the state of Michigan to cast a vote for Working Class Party. 

            This vote lets working people express what they really think about the drastic situation we are caught in today, with the wars, inflation, lack of decent jobs for young people and a worsening standard of living for everyone. And every vote for a Working Class Party candidate is a way for working people to declare they want a party representing their own class.

The following candidates were nominated:

Liz Hakola, U.S. Congress District One, the UP and northern part of the Lower Peninsula;

Linda Rayburn, U.S. Congress 6, the Ann Arbor, Saline and Ypsilanti area down to Monroe;

Felix Thibodeau U.S. Congress 7, the Lansing area;

Kathy Goodwin, U.S. Congress 8, Flint area and north

Jim Walkowicz, U.S. Congress 9, from “the Thumb” down to northern Macomb County;

Andrea L. Kirby, U.S. Congress 10, southern Macomb County, and parts of Oakland County;

Gary Walkowicz, U.S. Congress 12, from Dearborn Heights, Dearborn, west side of Detroit and Redford Township;

Simone R. Coleman, U.S. Congress 13, East side of Detroit, Hamtramck, Highland Park and downriver suburbs;

Larry Darnell Betts, Michigan State Senate District 2; Detroit, Dearborn and Dearborn Heights;

David Roehrig, State Senate 3, Detroit north end, and Hamtramck, Highland Park;

Walter Willis, State Senate 4, Detroit west side, most of downriver;

Jacob Schodowski, State Senate 9, southwestern Macomb County;

Hashim Malik Bakari, State Senate 11, southeastern Macomb County;

Krysten Mere, State Senate 15, western Wayne, Washtenaw and Lenawee Counties;

Wes Peterson, State Senate 28, Northern Lansing area out into Clinton and Shiawasee Counties;

Logan Ausherman, State House 9, Detroit North end;

Piper Willow Smith, State House 10, Detroit, east side.

 And our three statewide candidates:

 Mary Anne Hering, State Board of Education;

Suzanne Roehrig, Wayne State Board of Governors;

Yaz Ozbek, Michigan State Board of Trustees.
