Since 1856, 170 years ago, only two parties have run the country. No matter which party was in power – Democrat or Republican – they worked to enrich the capitalist class at the expense of working people. For 170 years, both parties took the country to war, after campaigning on the promise to keep the country out of war. Exploitation of the workers, enormous profit for the bosses, wars on other people – this is the long record of both parties.
Eugene V. Debs was condemned to prison in 1918 because he dared to say that the workers have no use for the capitalists and their wars. He spoke for the workers and farming people.
They plunder the population, they corrupt the court system, and they control the election system. They ruthlessly exploit the working class and devastate the country.
The workers of other countries are not our enemies. The capitalists are not our friends. Wars for conquest and plunder do not serve us. Workers slaughter each other while our masters become fat from the spoils of war.
The time has come for working people to organize our own war, a war of the working class against the exploitation, rapacity and violence of capitalism. It is time for workers to stand together as one class, regardless of race or nationality, sex or age. It is time to fight to throw out the rule of the capitalist class; time to work for the emancipation of our class and of humanity.
