Simone R. Coleman, Speech Sept. 20

I know what it’s like to work hard.

I've been in boots my whole working career – 32 years. I've run a jack hammer, cold patched, done asphalt, cement, set road closures and driven salt trucks.

During that time, we’ve worked more hours with less pay, and overtime does not contribute to our retirement. They call at any time and expect for you to answer. Your life is not your own.

Everything we accomplished in the past 50 years is being taken away. For a very long time I have understood that workers are being short changed. This system doesn’t work for us.

We need a Working-Class Party. We need to fight.  We need our voices heard.

I am Simone Coleman, running for the State House of Representatives,  district 14.
